Investing involves real risk of financial loss. This page explains those risks plainly. If you are uncertain whether investing is appropriate for your situation, you should seek independent financial advice before proceeding.
Capital at risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you put in. This is not a theoretical risk. It is how markets work. There is no mechanism within Investwizz that protects against market losses.
Past performance of any investment, portfolio, fund, or market is not a reliable indicator of future results. Historical returns shown within the Investwizz platform are factual records, not projections.
Even if your portfolio grows in nominal terms, it may lose real purchasing power if returns do not keep pace with inflation.
Cash savings that earn less than the rate of inflation also lose real purchasing power over time. That does not turn investing into the right answer for everyone, but it does explain why inflation is a separate risk to think about.
Global markets can be affected by events including interest rate changes, geopolitical events, economic data releases, currency fluctuations, regulatory changes, and systemic financial crises. Investwizz has no ability to predict or mitigate these movements.
Some investments may not be readily sellable at a given time, or may only be sold at a significant discount to their stated value.
A portfolio concentrated in a small number of assets, sectors, or geographies is more exposed to underperformance. Diversification does not eliminate risk but may reduce it.
If you hold investments denominated in currencies other than pound sterling, changes in exchange rates may affect the sterling value independently of asset performance.
Tax rules can change and their effect depends on your individual circumstances. Investwizz does not provide tax advice.
Investwizz does not provide financial advice. Nothing in the app or Learn content is a personal recommendation to buy, sell or hold an investment. All investment decisions are made entirely by you.
Investwizz Limited is an Appointed Representative of WealthKernel Limited (FCA Firm Reference Number 723719), which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Your investments are held by WealthKernel, not by Investwizz. Investwizz operates under WealthKernel's regulatory authorisation.
Eligible customers may be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme in relation to regulated investment services provided through WealthKernel, subject to FSCS rules and eligibility.
Under current FSCS rules, for most investment-related claims involving firms that fail on or after 1 April 2019, the compensation limit is up to £85,000 per eligible person, per firm. This is a separate limit from the FSCS deposit protection limit that applies to cash held with banks and building societies. FSCS does not compensate for losses that arise purely because investments fall in value or do not perform as expected.
